Good news still thrives amid coronavirus pandemic: Doctors dance, dogs bring joy and more
People everywhere are facing the coronavirus outbreak in different ways, whether hunkered down at home, volunteering for helpful causes or working on the front lines of the pandemic. But one thing that everybody is looking for is a glimpse of hope and a bit of good news during this difficult time. Luckily, there are plenty.
Just this week, it was doctors, dogs and even a fan-favorite duo from The Office that brought smiles to people’s faces by offering humor, support and love.
Doctor’s viral dance videos
Dr. Jason L. Campbell, a second-year anesthesiology resident at Oregon Health & Science University, is going the extra mile to encourage smiles while saving lives by showing off some dance moves on social media. “Find yourself an anesthesiologist that can save your life and tear up a dance floor,” he captioned one of the uplifting viral videos posted to Instagram.
Dogs bringing joy to COVID-19 patients and professionals
Meet Waffle, one of many dogs being profiled on @TheDogist Instagram account for brightening the days of her owner, Valentina Crudo-Josefosky, who works in the COVID-unit of a hospital in Turin, Italy. “If I come home from a night shift, [Waffle] sleeps at the foot of the bed all morning. She is such a carefree and joyous being that she’s infectiously so,” Crudo-Josefosky, emergency and internal medicine doctor, tells Yahoo Lifestyle.
Two health care workers celebrate love with social distancing wedding
Nurse Lauren Rovinsky and first responder Donnie Thomas met on Tinder in 2013. And after getting engaged in August 2018 and planning their dream wedding for March 27, 2020, the health care workers wouldn’t let their special day go to waste. “With what Donnie and I do for a living, and under the current circumstances we are living in, we know that tomorrow is not promised,” Lauren, who now goes by her married name, Lauren Thomas, tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “We did not want to spend one more day waiting to be married.”
TV meteorologist reaches out to man with autism

Washington, D.C. weatherman Steve Rudin brought some normalcy into the upended life of a local 34-year-old man with autism, who is struggling through quarantine in the absence of his normal routine. Rudin sent a video to Mark Byamugisha at the request of Mark’s sister, Michelle. Michelle later wrote, “This means the world.”
A star-studded The Office reunion
John Krasinski decided to bring “Some Good News” to his fans with a 15-minute mini-show on YouTube. But the segment was even brighter than expected when the actor, known for playing Jim Halpert on The Office, was joined by former co-star Steve Carrell. “Some of my most fond memories, personally or professionally, are entwined and connected with that show,” Carrell, who played Michael Scott, said during his appearance. Unfortunately, they didn’t have anything to announce regarding a cast-wide reunion.
