GoPro to offer smaller and lighter camera

GoPro enthusiasts can rejoice as the company has launched a new product it boasts as the smallest, lightest and most convenient GoPro yet.

Dubbed the HERO4 Session, it is said to be 50 percent smaller and 40 percent lighter than the company's best-selling HERO4 Black and Silver cameras in addition to packing the same image quality and performance.

"With HERO4 Session, we challenged ourselves to produce the smallest, lightest, most convenient GoPro possible," said GoPro founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman in a press release on July 6.

"HERO4 Session combines the best of our engineering and user-experience know-how to deliver our most convenient life-capture solution, yet."

Compatible with existing GoPro mounts, HERO4 Session features a durable waterproof design to 10 meters, simple one-button control to capture videos (1080p60, 720p100 and 1440p30) along with eight megapixel photos in single, burst and time lapse modes. Other highlights include SuperView, Protune and Auto Low Light recording modes.

"At GoPro, sound quality is as important as image quality and we're very excited about the stunning audio advancements we've made with HERO4 Session during water-based and windy activities. It's incredible what this little GoPro can capture," added Woodman.

The product will retail for US$399.99 at authorized retailers around the world and on GoPro.com starting from July 12.
