Gossip: Chelsea's Antonio Conte 'lined up' by PSG, Real Madrid linked with David Luiz and Man United 'scout' two stars

Antonio Conte is not expected to remain at Chelsea next season.

We’re not saying you shouldn’t believe anything you read in the Sun, but after reporting yesterday that Jose Mourinho was set to quit Manchester United for Paris Saint-Germain, the tabloid claims today that Antonio Conte is set to quit Chelsea for Paris Saint-Germain.

Surprising, really, as it’s normally such a reliable paper. But I guess we all make mistakes, and after all Sun journalists are only human (in the loosest sense).

According to the report, which is actually based on another report in French paper Le Parisien, Conte is being “lined up” as a replacement for current PSG coach Unai Emery. The same Unai Emery whose side have smashed Ligue 1 and Champions League group B this season without losing a game.

This will all apparently count for nothing, though, unless the Spaniard guides his expensively assembled outfit to the semi-finals of the latter competition.

And if doesn’t, Conte – and not Mourinho – is the man the French team will seek as his replacement. Or maybe their plan is to appoint Conte and Mourinho – wouldn’t put it past them. And it could work perfectly because the two coaches are such great friends.

Luiz set for January loan switch

Another man who could be leaving Chelsea is David Luiz, who the Express says is poised to quit Stamford Bridge for a second time after having a bust-up with Conte prior to last weekend’s match against Man Utd.

Real Madrid are allegedly among the clubs who would be keen on taking the Brazilian on loan in January, with PSG, Inter Milan and AC Milan also said to be interested. Alternatively, Luiz could just stick it out a bit longer and wait for Conte to leave instead.

Manchester United prepare for swoops

Meanwhile, Mourinho has spent his international break “scouting potential targets” – ideally ones he could buy for Man Utd or PSG, presumably. The Express says Jose watched Ivan Perisic in action for Croatia against Greece and is also planning to have a look at Germany’s Mesut Ozil at Wembley tonight.

Ozil’s international team-mate Leon Goretzka is coming to the Premier League, according to the Mirror, which quotes Germany’s general manager Oliver Bierhoff as saying, “Players like Leroy Sané and Leon Goretzka are moving to England.”

Ivan Perisic is wanted by Man United

Either Bierhoff has used some special magic to see into the future or he has unwittingly revealed some classified information. Either way it’s encouraging news for Arsenal and Liverpool, who have been tracking the in-demand Schalke midfielder.

Elsewhere, Eden Hazard has scared Chelsea fans by admitting it would be a “dream” to play under Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane (Mail), Man Utd want to sign a 21-year-old Brazilian playmaker called Arthur (Sun) and new West Ham manager David Moyes may sell club record signing Marko Arnautovic in January to fund his own signings (Mirror). Surely he doesn’t need that much money to sign Joleon Lescott and Victor Anichebe.
