'Gotham' casts its Ra's al Ghul

British actor Alexander Siddig

British actor Alexander Siddig has been chosen to play the role of Ra's al Ghul on the TV series "Gotham."

The "Game of Thrones" actor will take a recurring role as the iconic DC Comics villain, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The character will be the second version of Ra's al Ghul to recently hit the small screen. "Arrow" offered up its own version of the villain, played by Matt Nable, in its third season.

Siddig will likewise make his debut in the third and current season of "Gotham," as Bruce Wayne reveals the mysterious Court of Owls organization and with it, the leader of the international criminal organization known as the League of Shadows.
