Pulwama (J&K), Aug 20 (ANI): To promote the handicraft and handloom sector, the J&K govt is helping handloom societies manufacturing tweed cloths in Pulwama. The government is supporting societies in the Valley to manufacture different products including tweed cloth in quality. Tweed cloth is one of the activities that are increasing day by day with the help of government schemes which results in the number of people getting employment and earning their livelihood. Around 11 people are working at a handloom society, Azmat. They are working and preparing superior quality of tweed cloth and sell it in market. Initially, the society was not so strong to sell out their products directly in the market, but after getting proper registration by the government, people belonging to the societies got benefited. They are getting Rs 2 lakh for raw material at 7% subsidy. Items including blankets, coats, shawls are being made at these societies. The government has been helping these societies by organising exhibitions.
