"The Grandmaster" leads Asia Pacific awards nominations

2 Dec – After being nominated and winning the most awards at the 50th Golden Horse Awards, it was revealed that Wong Kar Wai's "The Grandmaster" has now nabbed nine nominations to lead this year's Asia-Pacific Film Festival (APFF) awards.

According to the official APFF website, the film topped the list of nominations including Best Picture, Best Director for Wong Kar Wai, Best Actor for Tony Leung and Best Actress for Zhang Ziyi, who had just won her first Golden Horse award recently.

Meanwhile, South Korea's "Snowpiercer" is the second film with the most nominations; seven, while India's "The Lunchbox", which triggered controversy for being snubbed as India's representation for the Oscars' Best Foreign Picture category, received six nominations, including Best Picture.

The 2013's APFF jury president is producer Shi Nansun, while other jury members include Malaysian actor and filmmaker Afdlin Shauki, British Film Institute's Claire Stewart, Christian Jeune from the Cannes Film Festival, Taiwanese director Sylvia Chang, Le Vision Pictures' Zhang Zhao and South Korean director Hur Jin-ho.
