If you binged through all ten episodes of The Great season two in a single weekend, back when Hulu dropped it in November, you're not alone. And there's finally some good news for fans of the gloriously smart and irreverent historical dramedy—season three is officially on the way.

Hulu made the announcement this week, during Disney’s Television Critics Association winter press tour session. The streamer confirmed that season 3 will again consist of ten episodes. There's not much other info available yet on when the new season may debut, but it's safe to bet that Elle Fanning will return in the lead role of Catherine the Great, alongside Nicholas Hoult as her pompous husband Peter, with whom she shares a love-hate relationship.

A tongue-in-cheek chronicle of the longest-reigning female ruler in Russian history that is very loosely based on historical fact, The Great is created by The Favourite screenwriter Tony McNamara.

Season two picked up with Catherine ascending to the throne, and followed her struggle to bring the enlightenment to Russia, and her growing awareness that her country may not want to be liberated. Per Hulu's official announcement, the second season of the show was one of its top-performing original comedies of the year.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in November, McNamara revealed that he doesn't have a firm plan for how long the series should run for. "I know a whole bunch of events that are interesting that you can hang things on,” he explained. “At the moment, I try not to look too far ahead. At the end of season two, I didn’t quite know what season three was. I like not knowing what comes next. If you have a show with a great ensemble and a great bunch of characters, you can invent as you go for a while.”
