Great World gets a facelift, welcomes over 70 new tenants

Previously known as Great World City, the new mall is now just called “Great World”. The lifestyle mall started its major upgrade in 2018, the first refurbishment in 20 years. It is slated to be completed by mid-2020, with more shops and new concepts opening in its final phase.

Great World will be welcoming more than 70 new tenants, from lifestyle and homeware stores like Bed Bath N’ Table, Hooga, to F&B establishments such as tonkatsu restaurant Ginza Anzu, brunch spot PS. Cafe, chocolatier The Dark Gallery, and specialty coffee MAVRX Coffee Bar, to name a few. It also houses a few Michelin-starred and Michelin Bib Gourmand eateries such as Peranakan restaurant The Blue Ginger, Tim Ho Wan, and Hototogisu Ramen which serves oyster ramen exclusively to Great World.

Fine-dining dessert bar House On The Moon will launch its first store in Singapore at Great World later this year, as well as Goobne Chicken Korea, which serves oven-roasted chicken.

For shoppers who enjoy grocery shopping, Great World now offers a variety of options. Apart from Cold Storage and Japanese supermarket Meidi-Ya, Australia’s bulk foods retailer The Source Bulk Foods which promotes zero-waste lifestyle, opens its first flagship store here offering more than 450 food and household products. Additionally, boutique grocer Ryan’s Grocery will be introducing its first café concept inside its store, serving its own coffee, baked goods, and dishes.

Come 2021, the mall will be directly linked to Great World MRT station as part of the upcoming Thomson-East Coast line, making commute to the mall much easier. In the meantime, there is a free shuttle bus service to pick up and drop off patrons at the mall. The bus will ply between Great World City and Newton MRT Exit B, Chinatown MRT Exit D, and Queenstown MRT Exit B.
