President of the Jury, Gerwig loves a feminine shoe and has a special affinity for platform styles. She’s worn everything from crushed velvet peep-toe shoes featuring pearl applique on the platform to flirty, bow-bedecked heels in textural frayed cloth from Chanel.

About the shoe

Gerwig’s shoe is from John Galliano’s viral Maison Margiela Artisanal collection, which showed in January. That couture range included the debut of six Tabi shoe styles created in collaboration with Christian Louboutin. At the show, some on the front row wore the pumps Gerwig is wearing, like Kylie Jenner.

The patent leather pump features the trademark Tabi toe split. This has been a Margiela staple since it was first introduced in 1988.

The Maison Margiela Paris and Christian Louboutin collaboration

First debuted in January, the shoes have been gaining increasing popularity. Miley Cyrus was one of the first to wear the collaboration outside of the show, wearing a two-piece suede stiletto to the Grammy Awards. The collection made a major impression at the Met Gala earlier this month with Zendaya and Gwendoline Christie wearing heels from the range. Bad Bunny also wore a pair featuring white and brown fur on the top ,which wwasone of the biggest men’s moments of the night.

“John and I met about 40 years ago when he first moved to Paris. Working with someone you love and respect was really a nice part of the collaboration. Moreover, Maison Margiela has such precise and strong codes that you can refer to, which are very well preserved,” Louboutin said about the collaboration via statement.
