GEORGETOWN: DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng denied that the pro tem Pakatan Harapan coalition has appointed Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as its advisors.
When asked to comment on a recent report by an online portal on the appointment of the two as advisors, Lim said he doesn’t think of them as advisors instead, the two leaders were the main faces of the Pakatan Harapan coalition.
“As far as the positions are concerned, that has not been decided, the position will be decided in the next meeting,” he said in a press conference here, yesterday.
Lim added that Dr Mahathir and Wan Azizah are the two main icons of Pakatan Harapan.
He added the decision was made by the council and the intention was to project a sense of unity and a symbol of looking forward.
“We are looking for a political reset, where we can look towards a better future, retaining what is good, discarding what is bad, and being inclusive by embracing everyone who wants to be part of this political reset for a new Malaysia which gives hope to the people,” he said.
Asked about a new name for the coalition, Lim said at the moment it is still Pakatan Harapan.
“The matter will be discussed at the secretariat, whether yes or no for a change, and the matter is also accepted by Mahathir so I think it is likely to remain so,” he said.
