Hacken Lee admits HK protests affect business

20 Oct – With the Occupy Central protests affecting businesses in Hong Kong, business-owning celebs like Hacken Lee, Janet Chow, and Halina Tam admitted that their profits have been affected as well.

As reported on Mingpao News, Hacken, who has a branch of his joint-venture congee and noodle shop with Alan Tam in Causeway Bay, revealed that the sales have fallen about three percent since the protests begun.

Living in the Southern District of Hong Kong, Hacken admitted that the people in the area would not leave their home unless absolutely necessary due to the traffic problem.

"Even if we want to meet friends for meals, we will meet in the Southern District. No matter what our political stance is, we have to admit that it does affect the image of various sectors in Hong Kong," said Hacken.

However, the singer stated that the noodle shop still has enough to compensate for the loss, since business had been good before the incident.

On the other hand, Janet stated that while business had been slow at the end of September, it has recently returned to normal. She believes that the fact that her store is situated in a mall and only sells baby products may be the reason why it was not affected that much.
