KUALA TERENGGANU: Pas president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang has chosen to forgive PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli for slandering him of receiving RM90 million from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

However, he said Rafizi is answerable to Allah for the sins he had committed by slandering him.

"As a Muslim, he should know very well about what are sins (dosa) and rewards (pahala)," he told reporters upon arrival at the Sultan Mahmud Airport here this evening.

Over 2,000 Pas supporters gathered to welcome him home after he had successfully tabled the Private Member's Bill to increase the powers of the Syariah courts.

Hadi tabled the bill, which seeks to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965, despite attempts by Opposition lawmakers to prevent him from moving the motion.

Meanwhile, Hadi thanked those who had supported him in tabling the bill, which he reiterated, was for Muslims.

He said he is willing to hold discussions with BN component parties such as MCA and MIC which may have misunderstood the bill, leading to their unfounded fear.
