PETALING JAYA: Halimey Abu Bakar is banking on his 10 years of experience as a Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) member to win the Seri Setia by-election.
Halimey said he was aware of the ongoing teething issues in the state constituency, which include urban poverty, road congestion and crime.
The theme for Halimey's ampaign - "Memacu Kesejahteraan Bandar " - supposedly encapsulates his understanding and objectives for the constituency.
"It is in-line with the lifestyle and socio-culture of the people here.
"I am confident, based on my experience as a city council member, that it will be easier to execute my responsibilities and help the locals here," Halimey told a media conference today.
Halimey served as a council member with MBPJ from 2008 to this year.
His focus would also be on addressing issues affecting those living in low-cost homes.
"I am sure that the local housing and government ministry will be with us to help out on the matter.
"I had also carried out most of the urban well-being programmes here.
"Hence, it is also important for the people to pick a candidate aligned or in the same team with the ruling party." © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
