'Harry Potter' star Devon Murray welcomes baby boy with heartwarming tribute
Harry Potter actor Devon Murray has shared the news that he has welcomed his first child, with a sweet tribute to his “hero” partner Shannon McCaffrey Quinn.
The Irish star is known for playing Seamus Finnigan in the film adaptations of the Harry Potter series, and kicked off the new year with some life-changing news.
Murray shared on his Instagram account that their new son, Cooper, was born on 2 January, posting a photo of a cupcake and a congratulations card with the newborn just visible in a hospital crib in the background.
He wrote: “Yesterday 2/1/21 my life changed forever. Shannon delivered our beautiful little boy ‘Cooper Michael Murray’ weighing 6lbs 10oz.”
Despite his happy news, Murray said that things had been a little difficult in the moments before Cooper was born.

He wrote: “Both are doing amazing now after a very long labour and a scary few minutes at the end.
“It still hasn’t sunk in just yet that we have our very own little boy. I can’t wait to make the most amazing memories with Shannon and Cooper as we begin our little family.”
New dad Murray, 32, was full of praise for his partner, calling her his “hero”.
He wrote: “I’m so amazed by Shannon and she is now my Hero. I’m so proud of her for everything she has gone through.
“I can’t wait to have you both home. It’s so hard having to leave you both. I will love you both forever until my last breathe (sic).”
Murray and McCaffrey Quinn have been together since 2018 and this is their first child.
He isn’t the only Harry Potter star to have recently become a parent - Rupert Grint, who starred as Ron Weasley, joined Instagram in November to announce his baby daughter’s name.
