Harry Styles and Lily James are reportedly in negotiations to start in Amazon’s adaptation of the acclaimed novel, My Policeman.

Deadline reports that Tony and Olivier Award-winner Michael Grandage will direct the project from an adapted screenplay by Oscar-nominee Ron Nyswaner.

The story is set in the late Sixties, as elderly invalid Patrick arrives at the home of Marion and Tom, triggering the exploration of events that took place 40 years ago: the then-illegal romance between Tom and Patrick.

The 2012 novel is set in Brighton, and was written by Bethan Roberts.

Production on the film is expected to begin in summer 2021.

James next stars in Netflix’s anticipated adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier’s Rebecca, opposite Armie Hammer and Kristin Scott Thomas.

Styles recently signed on to Olivia Wilde’s thriller Don’t Worry Darling, starring Florence Pugh, Dakota Johnson and Oscar-winner Olivia Colman.

His last film was Christopher Nolan’s wartime epic Dunkirk. He released his latest album, the chart-topping Fine Line, in December last year.
