Haze Subsidy Scheme ending on 23 November

The Haze Subsidy Scheme will cease on 23 November, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Monday.

The announcement comes after the National Environment Agency's (NEA) recent statement that the end of the dry season and the beginning of frequent showers could signal the end of the haze period in Singapore.

The Haze Subsidy Scheme provides children, the elderly, and lower and middle-income Singaporeans affordable treatment for haze-related conditions such as asthma, bronchitis and upper respiratory tract infections (URTI).

Those eligible for the scheme pay only $10 at participating clinics for haze related conditions. Pioneers pay no more than $5, while PAssion card holders do not need to make any out of pocket payment.

About 50,000 have benefitted from the scheme since it was reintroduced 16 September, with more than 630 general-practitioner clinics participating this round, according to the MOH.
