Heather Rae El Moussa Says Her First Thanksgiving With Son Tristan Was 'Stressful'
  • Heather El Moussa got candid about her "stressful" Thanksgiving on Instagram.

  • She shared that her 10-month-old son, Tristan, came down with his first cold, and it was an unnerving experience because they weren't at home.

  • Fortunately, Heather added that Tristan is on the mend—and that her family provided "a little extra help, love, and support."

A picture might be worth one thousand words, but Heather Rae El Moussa proves that they don't often show the full story. On Tuesday, The Flipping El Moussas star took to Instagram to reveal that despite posting fun family photos on Thanksgiving, her holiday weekend was served an unexpected curveball. "Our sweet bear came down with a bad cold, his first one ever, and of course we weren't at home for it," Heather said. "We were in the mountains where I grew up and I’m not going to lie, this was definitely not how I saw his first Thanksgiving going."

Since this was Tristan's very first time getting sick, the Selling Sunset alum admits that the holiday was "stressful." She goes on to explain that even a simple cold is unnerving when a child is so young, explaining, "as a mama you feel sort of helpless because they can’t 'tell' you how they feel." Fortunately, Heather shared that her 10-month-old son is on the mend—and that her family provided "a little extra help, love, and support."

Of course, Heather's fans were quick to share their very own relatable anecdotes—and express how much they appreciate her candor. "My kids are in their twenties and I feel the same when they're hurt or sick," one person commented. "I love watching you be a hands-on mom." Another one posted, "Aww…I’m sorry to hear that, but I’m so glad you were surrounded by loved ones that could support and love on ya." A third simply wrote, "Thank you for your [honesty.]"

The HGTV star knows that she's not the only one who had a less-than-perfect Thanksgiving, and is keeping her community in her thoughts. She wrote: "I know the holidays, for a lot of people, can be a little unexpected so if yours didn’t go as planned either- you’re definitely not alone but I hope everyone else had a happy & healthy Thanksgiving weekend."

Two things Heather can be thankful for: The fact that Tristan is on the mend, and that moms everywhere know exactly how she feels.
