Heather Watson suffered a disappointing exit at the hands of Fiona Ferro to compound a miserable week for Britain at the French Open.

Watson was an early break up in both sets in damp, cool conditions at Roland Garros but was unable to hold on to her advantage.

The world number 54 fought hard in a 65-minute opening set but lost out in the tiebreak to Ferro, who played an impressive match on her home soil.

The 23-year-old eventually came through 7-6, 6-4 to send Watson home after an hour and 51 minutes on court.

But the Guernsey-born player wasn't the only Briton to disappoint. Just three days into the tournament, there are no British singles players left, with Watson joining Andy Murray, Johanna Konta, Dan Evans, Cameron Norrie and Liam Broady in crashing out.

It means for the first time since 2013, there will be no British representation in the men's or women's singles draw.

However, Jamie Murray and Joe Salisbury remain in the men's doubles in Paris as they prepare for their first round ties.
