Petaling Jaya (The Star/ANN) - Passengers on Malaysia Airlines' economy class will be allowed to carry on board one piece of hand luggage with a maximum weight of 7kg instead of 5kg.
This applies to domestic and international flights from tomorrow.
Travellers in first and business class are allowed two pieces of hand luggage with a maximum weight of 7kg each.
Each piece should have a maximum 56cm height, 36cm length and 23cm width.
"We first announced this policy on May 15 last year prior to joining oneworld Alliance.
"Now with our enhanced network, we would like to reiterate to our new customers that we have this policy in place for them to enjoy some of the benefits flying with Malaysia Airlines," said MAS customer services director Datuk Mohd Salleh Ahmad Tabrani.
Apart from that, each passenger can bring on board either a notebook/laptop computer, briefcase or a binocular bag.
One small handbag and a walking stick are also allowed.
Those travelling with infants below 24 months old may also bring one bag containing baby food and nappies weighing up to 5kg, a carry cot and a collapsible stroller.
MAS' regular rates will be applied to hand luggage exceeding these allowances.
