SINGAPORE — The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has advised travellers that traffic flow through the land checkpoints at Woodlands and Tuas is expected to be heavy during the Good Friday weekend from 18 to 21 April.

In a Facebook post on Friday (12 April), ICA said that traffic is expected to be particularly heavy between 18 and 19 April, and travellers are advised to expect delays and adjust their travel plans where necessary.

Travellers are also reminded not to carry prohibited items such as firecrackers, “pop-pops” and chewing gum. If they are carry dutiable or controlled items such as eggs, meat products and potted plants, they should proactively make declarations to ICA officers before the checks.

No queue-cutting please: ICA

ICA has also advised motorists against queue-cutting at the land checkpoints during peak periods, as it can cause severe congestion and compromise motorists’ safety.

It said, “Motorists are reminded to observe traffic rules, maintain land discipline at all times and cooperate with checkpoint officers to ensure a safe environment at the checkpoints.”

Motorists can check the prevailing traffic situation at the land checkpoints via the One Motoring website or the Expressway Monitoring and Advisory System installed along the Bukit Timah and Ayer Rajah Expressways. They can also check ICA’s Facebook page for updates.

ICA will continue to take measures to improve clearance efficiency without compromising security. It will also work with the Traffic Police to ensure road discipline at key junctions leading to the land checkpoints.
