Hebron Schoolboy Held by Israeli Forces for Alleged Stone-Throwing, Activists Say
Israeli forces apprehended nine-year-old boy at a Hebron school on March 19 and accused him of throwing rocks, according to the Jerusalem-based human-rights watchdog B’Tselem. and Palestinian media reported.
The boy, Yazan Idris, was led from the school and detained at a nearby checkpoint for about an hour, B’Tselem said. The group added that he was released after school staff and his mother followed the soldiers to the checkpoint and argued with them to let the boy go. His mother told B’Tselem, “Yazan was pale and terrified.” She added, “I couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that soldiers with rifles wanted to arrest my nine-year-old boy.”
