Hiker dies from breathing difficulties at Bukit Tabur

HULU KLANG: A hiker has died after suffering from breathing difficulties while descending Bukit Tabur, here.

The victim, Amir Azhari Abdullah Zawawi, 29, was pronounced dead upon arrival at Hospital Ampang for treatment.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations deputy director Mohd Rizal Buang said a distress call was received at 1.25pm today.

“Five firemen with an engine from Ampang fire station were deployed to the scene. “We were informed that the victim, who was descending Bukit Tabur with five other friends, had breathing difficulties some 3km from Bukit Tabur base camp.

“The team launched a search and rescue operation at 2.10pm and found the victim unconscious at the scene.

“Our EMRS personnel performed CPR on the victim from the scene to the base camp before he was handed over to the Red Crescent medical team,” he said in a statement today.

“However, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The case has been handed over to the police for further action.”
