A Lizzie McGuire reboot has been a long time coming, and now it's finally been confirmed for 2020. Disney shared a first look of the Lizzie McGuire revival back in January, when they revealed the TV shows and films that would be coming to Disney Plus this year.

Speaking about the reboot, Hilary Duff who plays Lizzie said, "It's so great to be home. Lizzie is older, wiser, and has a much bigger shoe budget, which is exciting."

However, Hilary has now taken to Instagram to ask Disney Plus to move the new Lizzie series to Hulu, because she doesn't want 30-year-old Lizzie's life to be restricted to a PG rating on Disney.

In an Instagram text post, Hilary wrote, "I was incredibly excited to launch 'Lizzie' on D+ and my passion remains! However, I feel a huge responsibility to honor the fans' relationship with Lizzie who, like me, grew up seeing themselves in her."

Hilary went on to explain that now Lizzie is older, she wants her life to be realistic and relatable on screen, including the parts of her life that wouldn't be allowed to be shown under a PG rating.

Hilary continued, saying, "I'd be doing a disservice to everyone by limiting the realities of a 30-year-old's journey to live under the ceiling of a PG rating. It's important to me that just as her experiences as a preteen/teenager navigating life were authentic, her next chapters are equally as real and relatable."

Explaining why she doesn't want the new Lizzie series to be PG, Hilary then publicly asked Disney to move the show over to streaming platform Hulu, which Disney also own. She wrote, "It would be a dream if Disney would let us move the show to Hulu, if they were interested, and I could bring this beloved character to life again."

Hilary simply captioned the post "Lizzie McGuire," but followers have been quick to praise her. Actress Allison Paige commented, "Thank you for honouring the voice of Lizzie as a grown woman for all the other grown men and woman who related to her so much when they were young!"

It's not yet clear whether Disney will honour Hilary's wishes and move Lizzie McGuire over to Hulu, but we can't wait to see what Lizzie gets up to now that she's a grown-up.
