Ho Kee Pau's food products at NEX outlet recalled after pest infestations on supplier's premises
SINGAPORE — A food manufacturing company which supplies food products to Ho Kee Pau's retail outlets has been suspended for widespread pest infestations on its premises.
In a media release on Wednesday (30 June), the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) added that it has told the company, HKP Food Technology, to recall food products delivered on Wednesday to Ho Kee Pau's outlet at NEX shopping mall.
The food products include dim sum, traditional paus (steamed buns) and pastries.
"Consumers who have purchased the implicated products from Ho Kee Pau’s retail outlet at NEX on 30 June are advised not to consume them," SFA said in its media release.
"Those who have consumed the implicated products and have concerns about their health should seek medical advice."
Cockroaches and rodent droppings
SFA said that, during an inspection of the premises of HKP Food Technology at the Shimei East Kitchen building (3015 Bedok North Street 5) on Wednesday, it found widespread pest infestations, such as cockroaches and rodent droppings, in the food preparation and assembly areas.
The premises was also found to be poorly maintained.
SFA has directed the company to rectify the lapses and take the necessary measures to improve the cleanliness of its premises.
Members of the public who come across poor hygiene practices in establishments are advised to report to SFA via the online feedback form with details for SFA to follow up with investigations.
