Hollyoaks airs shock collapse for Jesse Donovan after his wedding day discovery
Hollyoaks has aired a shock collapse for newlywed Jesse Donovan after he discovered the truth about who shot Mercedes McQueen.
Last week's episodes left off with Jesse (Luke Jerdy) learning that Grace Black (Tamara Wall) and James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) both shot Mercy (Jennifer Metcalfe), and tonight's (January 20) E4 first-look episode saw Jesse start drinking heavily at his wedding reception as he struggled to process the news.
With Jesse still adamant that Sylver McQueen (David Tag) needed to know the truth, he threatened Grace, telling her that he'll reveal all to her new boyfriend as soon as he got to the reception.
As a distraught Grace went to meet with James to discuss their next steps, Jesse continued to ruminate on what he'd learned, and ended up opening up to Maxine (Nikki Sanderson).
With Courtney (Amy Conachan) busy having the time of her life celebrating her wedding, Jesse told Maxine that he didn't want his new wife to become another victim of the Donovan clan, but Maxine urged him to be honest with Courtney, telling him that lies ruin a marriage.
But with the extent of Jesse's drinking going unnoticed by Courtney, she later left him alone at the bar, believing that he was waiting to organise a surprise for their honeymoon, and eventually Jesse was the only party-goer left as he continued to sit and drink while waiting for Sylver to turn up.
Before long, Jesse gave up his wait and decided to head for home but as he stumbled away from the bar, it wasn't long before the alcohol caught up with him, and he ended up collapsing in the village in the middle of the night.
Will anyone find Jesse before it's too late?
Hollyoaks airs weekdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look episodes on E4 at 7pm.
