Hollyoaks is due to return to filming soon, and once it does we will see the return of Ste Hay, who left the village to get back on track after he left the far-right hate group (in reality, Kieron Richardson was doing some stage work).

He would've been back by now, but then lockdown happened and all the soap's plans were put on pause.

Kirsty-Leigh Porter, who plays Ste's half-sister Leela Lomax, has spoke exclusively to Digital Spy about the fan-favourite character's return and how he could fit into the village in 2020.

"We haven't been told anything," she said, "but it's nice to have this new dynamic to the story as he's obviously coming home after everything that's happened – but who knows, will he even have a bed? There are so many people living in the house now.

"But it will be so interesting to see what he's going to do, where he is going to go and how the family are going to pick up from where they left things. Obviously Leela and Ste have got this bond that's pretty much unbreakable and she can't wait for him to get back and I can't wait for him to get back either.

"It'll be so interesting to see what he makes of Sid and Jordan."

Speaking of Jordan, the drug dealer who is having a thing with both Leela and her daughter Peri, the actress thinks that Ste returning would be "the perfect way" to bring him back.

"Everything has got to unravel and come out," she added, "and there has got to be someone at the end. He needs to get the village back on side and show everyone that he's remorseful and he's coming back as a better person."

Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes on Mondays and Tuesdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4. Classic episodes, titled Hollyoaks Favourites, air on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 7pm on E4.
