Home and Away to air emotional family scenes for Mali Hudson
Home and Away spoilers follow for UK viewers.
Home and Away will air emotional scenes for Mali Hudson next week, as his girlfriend Rose Delaney's first meeting with his family doesn't quite go to plan.
This week, UK viewers will see Mali make a last-minute plan to introduce Rose to his mum, Vicky, and sister, Elandra, after Vicky sees a photo of Rose on Mali's social media and starts to question him about the mystery woman.
In scenes that will air on Channel 5 in the UK next week, Rose will be feeling intimidated by the prospect of meeting Mali's mum for the first time at such short notice.

When the pair come face to face for the first time, there is immediate tension in the air. But, as Elandra is quick to point out to Mali, their mum is, in fact, happy to meet Rose, but she's annoyed with Mali for keeping the relationship a secret.
Vicky soon starts to warm to Rose, but when she asks what she does for a living and discovers that Rose is a police officer, both she and Elandra are quick to head for the car. Although Mali tries to stop them from leaving, Vicky's sudden disapproval is clear.
Elandra later tries to broker peace between Mali and their mum. She also opens up to Rose, explaining that she and Mali have a brother who has been unfairly targeted by cops before, which is why their family doesn't trust the police.

Vicky later lays out her feelings to Mali - she'd be happier if Rose had a different job, but her main issue is Mali's lying by omission, which has cut her deep.
Mali opens up to his mum, explaining to her that he's in love with Rose and only hopes that his family can accept her.
Vicky ends up offering an olive branch to her son's girlfriend - will this be a turning point in their relationship?

Actor Kyle Shilling, who plays Mali, spoke earlier this year about the importance of telling this story on screen, recalling Mali's own struggle with accepting Rose's job when they first got together due to the way that Indigenous people have been treated by the police.
"Mali's been through so much that he doesn't know how to trust her – it's a tough one for him to navigate," he said at the time. "And it's an example of what it can be like here in Australia with the Indigenous community – there's a lot of police brutality so it's a really important thing to show on screen."
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
Selected classic episodes are available via Prime Video in the UK.
