Hong Kong Ocean Park's Water World opens

Featuring 27 indoor and outdoor attractions such as rainbow-coloured slides, serpentine tube slides and wave pools across an area spanning nearly 6.5 hectares (16 acres), Ocean Park's Water World operated at half capacity under COVID-19 safety measures.

"We've all been stuck here for too long. The recreational options, the leisure options in Hong Kong, I think most people have tried them all already. So to have a brand new, world-class water park to open, I think should bring fun, should bring joy, should bring adventure," Ocean Park Corporation Chairman Lau Ming-wai told reporters.

The attraction, which suffered years of delays and was slated to open in 2017, is nearly twice as big as Hong Kong's previous water park, which closed its doors in 1997.
