Hong Kong stars enjoy the rise in price

2 Jul - Hong Kong actors have been enjoying an increase in their net worth with the recent boom of the Chinese film market, and this includes stars such as Nick Cheung, Tony Leung, and Sean Lau.

As reported on HK Channel, Nick Cheung, whose movie "From Vegas to Macau 2" made USD156.85 million at the mainland box office, is now worth RMB20 million (approximately USD3.2 million), an increase of 8 million more than his original price.

The actor will be paid the new net worth when he reprises his role in the third instalment of the Wong Jing movie soon.

When asked about the surge in his price, Nick's representative stated that it was indeed increased, though they will not reveal the exact amount. The rep also stressed that the actor always prioritise the kind of movie he makes rather than the amount of salary he will get.

Meanwhile, Tony Leung's net worth has risen from RMB30 million to RMB45 million (USD7.3 million), while Sean Lau, who previously was worth RMB4 million, now earns RMB12 million (USD1.93 million).
