A homeowner in Newcastle has put his property on the market with a truly unique bathroom – featuring leopard print wallpaper and a portrait of Pat Butcher.

Gaz Davies and wife Natasha are asking for £200,000 for their three-bedroom home in Tyne and Wear, with a listing on property app Rightmove hoping to pull in the views.

But the unassuming property is also home to a quirky downstairs toilet which is covered in leopard-print wallpaper and a black sink – and features a portrait of Butcher instead of a mirror.

Mr Davies claims his wife told him to “rein it in” after his initial go at decorating the house, and he decided on the leopard-print style for the toilet and master bedroom.

However, despite the Butcher portrait, Mr Davies, from South Kirkby, West Yorkshire, admits he's never watched EastEnders, and just thinks it’s a “quirky design”.

He revealed that he opted for the portrait instead of a mirror as the toilet “was not going to be used all of the time”.

Mr Davies explained: “I decided on the leopard print then I thought about what photo would suit it so I was browsing websites and Pat Butcher popped up. I thought 'I don't mind her being in my downstairs toilet'.

“If people don't like it, It's not hard to paper or paint over something and take a picture down but if people want to keep it they can have it.”

Mr Davies, who is moving to Australia with his wife, said that eight people have viewed the property so far but no one has put an offer in yet.

However, he said their reasons for saying no were “legitimate” – and no-one has complained about the bathroom yet.

Black walls and fixtures adorn the open-plan living area downstairs but the upstairs remains light and less unorthodox.

An estate agent at Rook Matthews Sayer said: “The whole property is a bit quirky. It's some people's taste and for others I think it's a bit too much in your face."

Mr Davies says he hopes to sell the home soon but if he can't he'll keep it and rent it out instead.

The listing earned has almost 700 likes on social media from baffled users.

One user commented: ”I actually don't hate this! They've got a look and have stuck to it, having Pat Butcher in there means they're very aware of what they're doing but are going for it anyway.”
