How to make your brand happen online

Viral videos, memes, trending topics are things we encounter every day in our online lives.

While users think little of them, students of marketing know that these—and a host of emerging trends—play a crucial role in the rise and fall or desirability and engagement of a product or service.

On July 31, the Philippine Marketing Association will highlight companies and individuals whose impact online has been significant. To be held at the MOA Arena in Pasay City from 8 a.m. to 5 pm., the STRATMARK 2012 conference is designed for students and teachers of business, marketing and mass communications.

This year’s theme is “MARKETING MASH UP: Hybrid for the New Breed.”

Noted marketing practitioners
Sponsored in part by Yahoo! Philippines, the conference will feature noted marketing practitioners such as Agora Awardee Simplicio Umali of Gardenia Bakeries; Leah Besa of Netbooster Asia; Anubha Sahasrabuddhe, Marketing Director of Coca Cola International; top blogger Janette Toral; and Ed Mapa, chief marketing officer of Havas Manila, among others.

The speakers will present trends in marketing and commerce particularly in the channels of distribution and brand building.

STRATMARK 2012 is held every year to mark National Marketing Month. It is also timed at the start of the school year to show students real world applications in marketing and product development.

10,000 participants expected
For the last nine years, STRATMARK has gathered close to 5,000 students.

This year’s conference is expected to attract double the number given the venue.

STRATMARK 2012 is also presented in cooperation with Sun Cellular, SM Arena and Gardenia Bakeries.
