Huawei Outs Ascend Y220 and Y320 Budget Dual-SIM Android Smartphones (Updated with Prices)
Coinciding with the announcement of Jasmine Curtis-Smith as the company’s first brand endorser in the Philippines, Huawei also introduced two new Android smartphones that are targeted at budget-minded Filipino consumers: the Ascend Y220 and the Ascend Y320. These new offerings add to Huawei’s previous models of affordable smartphones, namely the Ascend Y200 and the Ascend Y300.
Flaunting a 3.5-inch touchscreen (320 x 480), the Y220 comes with a MediaTek MT6572M dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz with 256MB RAM and 512MB ROM. Although its onboard storage is trivial, the handset can support up to 32GB microSD for storage expansion. The dual-SIM Y220 also features a 0.3-megapixel camera and a 1350mAh battery module. The device runs on the older Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.
Meanwhile, the dual-SIM Y320 presents a display larger than that of the Y220: it measures 4 inches with 480 x 800 screen resolution. Although it has the same processor as the Y220, the Y320’s is clocked faster at 1.3GHz, which is complemented with 512MB RAM and larger 4GB onboard storage. The Y320 also features a 2-megapixel camera and a 1350mAh battery module. Unlike the Y220, the Y320 operates on the newer Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS.
Huawei offers the Ascend Y220 and the Ascend Y320 in black and white colors. The two dual-SIM smartphones has a micro-USB connector, and support Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n for wireless connectivity. The Y220 and the Y320 cost PhP 2,850 and PhP 3,990 respectively. Both smartphones are also available for free through select Globe plans.
