RAUB: A man died after the car he was travelling in with his wife and two children was involved in an accident at KM329 Jalan Kota Bharu-Kuala Lumpur, near Kampung Sega, here, this morning.
Raub district police chief Supt Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said the victim was identified as Shaibol Whasilah Mamat, 53.
The accident that took place at 5.45am also injured his wife Norizan Ali, 48, and their 19-year-old daughter Najmulhuda Shaibol Whasilah.
"The couple's other daughter, Najmatul Husna Shaibol Whasilah, 6, was not injured," Wan Mohd Zahari said.
He informed that based on initial investigation, the victim's car collided with a lorry travelling from the opposite direction.
"The lorry driver was believed to have lost control of his vehicle before entering the opposite lane and hitting the car driven by the victim.
"The victim (Shaibol Whashilah) was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head injuries. His wife and daughter are receiving treatment at Raub Hospital," he said when contacted.
Wan Mohd Zahari said the lorry driver did not sustain any injuries and his statement has been recorded to assist in investigations.
The case was being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
