Husband 'killed wife after she mocked his sexual prowess’, German court hears

A husband has confessed to killing his wife before burying her in the garden because she ridiculed his sexual prowess.

The 40-year-old suspect, known only As Stephen L, is on trial for suffocating his wife, Andrea, in Scharbeutz, Germany.

The suspect has a 10-year-old son with the victim, who was 41 years old at the time of her death.

According to a psychiatric expert, the couple’s marriage was on the rocks and they agreed to finish things at the end of last year.

They had sex on 26 December, when the suspect’s wife allegedly said ‘that was not great’ and ridiculed him with comments such as ‘other men are better than you’, according to local media reports. 

Stephen L confessed that at some point he took a pillow and suffocated his wife, but claims to not remember much else about the night in question.

He told investigators: “There is only a black hole.”

The suspect reportedly dragged his wife’s body into the shed and buried her in the garden five days later.

Police found the victim’s body in January wrapped in plastic.

According to the expert’s report, the suspect said in tears: “I cannot sleep through a single night, the memory of how I pushed the pillow onto her face still haunts me.”

However, investigators said that he had looked up websites on ‘unsolved murders’ and ‘how to bury dead animals’ on the internet the day before the alleged murder.

Prosecutors accused him of murdering his wife so that his mistress could move into his home as she refused to do so as long as his wife was there.
