KUALA LUMPUR: The hypermarket in a 12-second viral video showing a rat sleeping in its packaged drinks section has been cleaned and sanitised.
A spokesman for the hypermarket is in Bandar Utama said the management took customer satisfaction seriously and apologised for any dustress the incident had caused.
“In addressing the issue, we instructed our team members to clean and sanitise the premises. We also introduced preventive measures.
“We are working with the Health Ministry to ensure that our sanitation practices meet guidelines. Cordoned off areas will reopen once we get clearance from the ministry.
“We will redouble our efforts by increasing the frequency of hygiene audits and schedule regular pest control at all our outlets to avoid a recurrence.”
The spokesman said the management was committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment for customers.
The video, uploaded by Facebook user Tressa Cheong, showed a rat lying on the top shelf. It has been viewed more than 80,000 times and shared 2,527 times.
Netizens shocked by the video had shared their grouses on social media and raised concerns about the cleanliness of the hypermarket.
