The Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID) closed the first three months of 2017 by selling 23,312 units for a 10 percent increase over the 21,160 units sold for the same period last year.
For the first quarter of 2017, sales for the Passenger Car segment rose by 21 percent to 9,242 units sold from 7,609 units sold a year earlier, spurred by Hyundai‘s sales of 5,986 units for the period.
For the Light Commercial Vehicle segment, 14,070 units were sold in Q1 2017 for a 4 percent increase compared to 13,551 units sold a year ago, led by Ford‘s sales of 7,586 units.
“Riding on sustained demand in the automotive market, AVID’s sales growth story continues its upward trend as it picked up by 10% for the three-month period in 2017,” said AVID President Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo. “This encouraging response further drives AVID to deliver top-notch products and services to our beloved customers.”
