I didn't stop and analyse... I liked him a lot: woman in ex-SCDF chief Peter Lim's trial

The woman from whom former Singapore Civil Defence Force chief Peter Lim Sin Pang allegedly corruptly obtained oral sex took the stand on Monday.

Under questioning by deputy public prosecutor Sherlyn Neo, Pang Chor Mui said that she had first met Lim years ago at a conference in Norway when he was a major and she was working with Cisco.

They lost touch over the years but, after she found out that Lim had been appointed SCDF chief, she met up with him in May 2010, Pang said. At that time she was working for Nimrod Engineering, a security solutions company.

He went drinking somewhere in Fullerton and she asked through text message if she could bring him home. She drove him to his condo at Tanjong Rhu but Lim wanted to chat with her before going back so she drove further up from the condo entrance and parked.

They talked about his health and then began touching each other. Eventually, she gave him oral sex. It lasted "a short while" because it dawned on them that they were in a public place, she recounted.

Asked why she did it, Pang said, "I didn't stop and analyse... I can't give a reason why... I liked him a lot."

They did not have another meet-up but continued to text each other, she said.

A few weeks after the quake in Fukushima, Japan, she said Lim texted her asking if Nimrod sold radiation portal equipment, but the company did not at that time.

She offered to help him source for the equipment. At that time SCD had already opened a tender but Pang said she did not know about it until a Nimrod sales manager informer her.

She then said she spoke to Nimrod's managing director, Tamil Selvan, about increasing demand in the portal equipment, which spurred him to look at investing in them.

She was reluctant about the move because it would require investment in demo units, training of people and more over the next 10 years. However, the managing director still wanted to continue with the investment.

Asked by the deputy public prosecutor about her relationship with the managing director, Pang said they have an "intimate friendship" and that they have been friends for 17 years.

When they first became friends, she said the director was going through hardship and she was helping him along, she explained.

Lim, 52, is facing one charge of corruptly obtaining oral sex from Pang in exchange for advancing the firm's business interests.

Nine other similar charges involving sex with two other women -- executives Esther Goh of NCS and Lee Wei Hoon of Singapore Radiation Centre -- have been stood down pending the outcome of the current charge.
