From Town & Country

One of the 20th century's most iconic and influential homes just went up for sale in Palm Springs for a cool $25 million this week. Designed by Richard Neutra, one of the world's most prominent modernist architects, this house has been carefully restored to its 1970s prominence, when Slim Aarons featured it in a now-iconic photo shoot (the most popular photo being Poolside Gossip, shown above). Held by Vista Sotheby's International Realty, the selling of this home would be huge for the Palm Springs real estate market, as it would be the biggest sale in the town's history.

The five-bedroom, six-bathroom home is a midcentury lover's dream, with as many photo-worthy spots indoors as there are on the pool deck. The home features a stunning floor-to-ceiling fireplace, desert mountain views from nearly every room, and a unique layout that optimizes both privacy and indoor-outdoor living. It's sure to be a hostess's haven for parties big and small.

Though built in 1946 for department store tycoon Edgar J. Kaufmann (who also commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater in Pennsylvania), the home was immaculately restored by L.A.-based architecture firm Marmol Radziner and is sure to suit those looking for a modern California lifestyle. The house is set on two acres, spans more than 3,000 square feet, and features several wings with a central hub, making it a wonderful option for both families or a group of friends to own together. Can't you just picture yourself re-creating Poolside Gossip with a loved one this holiday season?
