IdeaSpace: Philippines Angel Investor Holding Competition for Best Pinoy Startup

The IdeaSpace Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization in the Philippines that offers angel investing to startups recently announced a national search for the best Pinoy tech innovation. This contest offers up to PhP 5 million (over $116,000) in funding offered to the best Pinoy technopreneurs. Aspiring startups can start submitting their applications between September 1, 2012 and January 7, 2013. According to the announcement from IdeaSpace:

Ten tech-based ideas will receive funding and support worth PhP 2 million (over $47,000) for the first phase and up to PhP 5 million ($116,000) additional capital during or after six months into the program.

The organization is also known to offer assistance beyond angel investing, will provide the winner mentorship and access to various resources needed to get the business off the ground. IdeaSpace’s president Earl Martin Valencia added:

We’re excited to see what kind of game changing ideas we will get from this competition. We have been going the rounds all over the country through our bootcamps and there are so many promising tech ideas and entrepreneurs around. It’s time to help make these ideas into commercial realities.

The contest details are posted on their website. Personally, I want to see a startup that focuses on education that can change the way Filipinos learn and share their knowledge both for academic and non-academic.
