IKEA has issued a global recall of its white frosted GLIVARP extendable dining table following reports of faulty parts, said the Swedish furniture maker on Tuesday (27 November).

“IKEA has received customer reports of the extension piece in the GLIVARP extendable dining table detaching from the rails and falling,” it added.

“As part of the preventive measure and to safeguard customers, IKEA will be conducting a global recall of the white frosted GLIVARP extendable dining table.”

No known incidents involving the $499 table have been reported in Singapore.

Full refunds for customers

The company has called for all customers who own a white frosted GLIVARP table to return the product to IKEA for a full refund. Proof of purchase is not required.

“The safety of customers is a top priority for IKEA, which is why we choose to recall the
affected batch as a precautionary measure,” said Cindy Andersen, business manager Kitchen and Dining at IKEA of Sweden.
