These days, gaming setups in your room (or whatever space you can afford) can get pretty fancy with the mass proliferation of gaming-centric furniture brands.

With even massage chair brands jumping onto the bandwagon of making gaming chairs for the younger generation, it is no surprise to learn that Swedish furniture giant IKEA is now ready to unleash their version of gaming products in Singapore.

Collaborating with Republic of Gamers (ROG, ASUS sub-brand, or the acronym you sometimes see on some ASUS laptops and peripherals), a whole new gaming range of products will launch in IKEA Singapore stores from 4 November 2021.

This new gaming range includes more than 30 products under six product families: UPPSPEL, LÅNESPELARE, MATCHSPEL, GRUPPSPEL, UTESPELARE and HUVUDSPELARE (Please don’t get me to pronounce any of this though).

IKEA and ROG have obviously designed the products together to target PC gamers (PC master race confirmed), and I am more than happy to have some competition in this space which is slightly getting monopolised by certain other brands.

Besides, viewing new gaming chairs, gaming desks, and storage solutions, before going over to the food hall for some meatballs sounds like a great idea (this is ultimately what brings us to IKEA, right?).

Even if you are not looking for new furniture to show off your new fancy PC (I mean, Intel just released their 12th Gen processors, if you're upgrading you're probably going to need new everything), IKEA is also releasing some other products like a mug holders, hoodie and mousepad.

1 v 1 Dota 2

IKEA Singapore is also organising its first ever esports competition. Participants will duke out in Dota 2, 1 versus 1 (yes, I know but at least you now can’t complain your teammate is a noob).

Interested participants can choose to sign up in either of the categories below:

Professional Category - For gamers with MMR 3360 and above.

  • One winner will stand to win a $2,000 IKEA Gift card and a ROG Strix XG17AHP Portable Gaming Monitor (worth $999).

Casual Category - For gamers with MMR 3359 and below.

  • One winner will stand to win a $1,000 IKEA Gift card and a set of ROG Claymore II Wireless Keyboard and ROG Gladius III Wireless Mouse (worth $618).

For each category:

  • 2nd place will receive $500 IKEA Gift Card

  • 3rd and 4th place will each receive $300 IKEA Gift Card

While I am not sure if having a MMR of 3360 and higher will constitute anything professional, if you think you can Shadowraze your 1v1 game to victory, registration is open from 4 - 15 November 2021.

Qualifiers will be held online and Finals (Top 16 players in each category) will be held in IKEA Tampines on 20 November 2021.

There's also a limited-edited tote bag available on 20 November by spending a minimum of S$50 in-stores on home furnishing products in a single receipt. The bags are limited to the first 200 redemptions per store, one bag per customer.

To celebrate the launch of the new gaming range, IKEA Family members can enjoy the new Charcoal hotdog at S$1.50 (instead of the usual price of S$2.00) from 1 - 30 November 2021.

Hey, if your wallet is too empty for any new gaming setup (or from any new gaming setup), at the very least you can have some affordable hotdogs filled with cheese and wrapped in charcoal buns.
