I'm A Celebrity has offered the first look at Adam Woodyatt and Simon Gregson's entry to the castle – which involves a terrifying run-in with some snakes.

Viewers of last night's episode saw the 10 original campmates being told they were all taking part in the next trial, but when they arrive at the trial area in Thursday's show they will find that they are actually spectators to Woodyatt and Gregson's challenge.

The two soap actors who have both clocked up more than 30 years in EastEnders (Woodyatt) and Coronation Street (Gregson) have their heads locked into boxes that are filled with snakes as they try to use their tongues to unscrew stars in front of them.

It's a tough introduction to their co-stars, who sit facing them and cheering them on while shouting out instructions.

With the stars needed to win meals for camp, will the late arrivals manage to make themselves popular with their new campmates?

Gregson, best known for playing Steve McDonald in Corrie, said of joining the show: “It’s going to be nice for people to see what I am like without a script for a change. I think people think you are in a huge celebrity bubble when you work on a soap but that is not the case at all.

"It will be nice for them to see me as a normal man but also, there isn’t much difference between the character and myself as I kind of injected myself into the character I play!”

Woodyatt told how he was able to finally sign up to the show after taking a break from his lengthy contract with BBC soap EastEnders.

He said: “I don’t mind if I am first or last in the castle – I am just really looking forward to being on the show.

“Why have I finally said yes? Because I am not in EastEnders! That is the honest answer. I am not in contract with the BBC so I can come and do it. Everyone thinks I am Ian Beale and so it’s going to be great to show I am not.”

The series also features Richard Madeley, who had to leave camp during the night after falling ill and being taken to hospital.
