KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 4,382 Enforcement Cards (e-kad) has been issued to illegal foreign workers to temporarily to legalise their employments as of yesterday.
Immigration Department (Federal Territory) director Mohd Nasri Ishak said 4,598 illegal workers and 386 employers have registered for the e-kad since Feb 15.
Since then, the department has been receiving, on average, 184 registrations a day.
“Employers have been given until June 30 to apply the card for their workers. So far, we are satisfied with the outcome,” said Nasri during an inspection of the e-kad applications at the Immigration Department here today.
He added Kuala Lumpur ranks the second highest for e-kad registration after Putrajaya with more than 10,000 applications since last month.
