Inderjit Singh To Step Down, Not Compete In Singapore General Elections
Member of Parliament (MP) Inderjit Singh has just announced he will step down from public office before the next General Elections rolls along.
Inderjit mans the Kebun Baru ward, which was redrawn into Nee Soon Group Representation Constituency (GRC) from Ang Mo Kio GRC, according to the electoral report published Friday.
“I thank the residents of Kebun Baru and Ang Mo Kio for the support they gave me during this time and for the confidence and trust they placed in me,” said Inderjit.
The MP urged Kebun Baru residents to support his team from the ruling People’s Action Party and says he “did (his) best to serve”.
Under Ang Mo Kio GRC, Inderjit won with 69.33% of valid votes in the 2011 general elections. The team under the People’s Action Party was led by prime minister Lee Hsien Loong, who helmed the Teck Ghee ward.
Nee Soon GRC was formed during the 2011 general elections. That year, it was formed by absorbing the former Nee Soon Central Single Member Constituency (SMC), Nee Soon East SMC, two divisions from then-Sembawang GRC and a division from then-Ang Mo Kio GRC.
Nee Soon GRC is currently led by minister for law and foreign affairs K. Shanmugam.
He was last seen in photos (featured above) at a Meet-The-People’s session on Thursday (Jul 23).
