Teabox has also announced the appointment of Amit Sharma as CTO and Nicole Naumoff as Senior Vice President for Marketing

When he started TeaBox in 2013, Kaushal Dugar would not have imagined that he would be able to ship fresh and quality teas to 94 countries — as far as Russia, Ukraine, Iraq and Kiribati — within just three years of launching the tea e-tailing platform.

And this pace of growth did not go unnoticed; the likes of Jafco Asia, Ratan Tata and Accel Partners invested money in the company over multiple rounds.

Now, the Bangalore-based tea e-tailer has raised another round of funding — from Singapore-based angel investor and tea connoisseur Cameron Jones. Concurrently, it also received venture debt from DBS Bank, Southeast Asia’s largest banking and financial services company.

Teabox will use the capital to expand its presence and fuel growth and innovation in global markets.

“This capital will give us additional resources to expand quickly and strategically into new markets, innovate rapidly, and deliver on our vision around the world,” said Kaushal Dugar, Founder and CEO, Teabox.

Along with this, Teabox has also announced the appointment of Amit Sharma as CTO and Nicole Naumoff as Senior Vice President (Marketing).

Amit Sharma is a technology veteran with strong understanding of usability, scalability, performance and optimisation.

Naumoff brings 20 years of marketing and business leadership experience with global brands to Teabox. She will lead Teabox’s marketing efforts including the launch of new products and partnerships, with a focus to build the brand in North America.

“We are thrilled to add leaders of Nicole and Amit’s caliber and depth of experience to our team. Their track record of successfully bringing consumer-focused products and services to market will help us to scale to our next level of growth,” Dugar added.

Founded in 2012, Teabox delivers fresh teas — sourced from over 200 growers and estates across Darjeeling, Assam, Nilgiri and Nepal — to 94 countries including the US, Russia, the UK, Australia, Canada, Ukraine, Iraq, Singapore, Peru, Panama, Kiribati, Uzbekistan. Teabox claims to have delivered over 35 million cups’ worth of tea to customers.

Keystone Group LP and Dragoneer Investment Group are investors at Teabox.
