Indonesia cosplayers bag top prize at AFA Regional Cosplay Championship
Team DAIKON SKY, from Indonesia, won the top prize at the Anime Festival Asia Regional Cosplay Championship on Friday (27 November).
The Indonesians wowed the crowd with their performance based off the Capcom game “Devil May Cry” and took home $800 as well as a trip to Tokyo.
Thailand’s Northern Rose, cosplaying as characters from the Megaman series, and the Philippines’ Try-hard Boys, whose sketch was based off warring warlords from feudal Japan, were second and third, respectively, winning $500 and $200.
Teams from Malaysia and Singapore also took part in the finals, which were judged by celebrity cosplayers like Japan’s Kaname and Korea’s Tomia.
Singapore’s team performed their sketch based off the “Saint Seiya” anime and manga series, while Malaysia’s was from “Code Geass”.
