Indonesian smart city app Qlue gives early stage investment to Nodeflux

The investment is followed by a strategic partnership in the form of integrating Nodeflux platform in Qlue solutions

What comes up in mind when you heard the term ‘smart city’? The answer might be ease and sophistication in the public service sector as supported by advance technology.

In order to realise such vision in a sustainable manner, recently Indonesian smart city solutions provider Qlue announced a strategic partnership with smart devices developer Nodeflux.

The partnership began with a seed funding round investment given by Qlue to Nodeflux. Though the number of the investment was undisclosed, the process has turned Qlue into one of the shareholders in the startup that was founded by Meidy Fitranto and Faris Rahman.

To DailySocial, Fitranto explained the upcoming collaboration with Qlue.

He said, “There are many collaboration to develop. In many cases, our path seems to have crossed since most of Qlue’s potential clients already have their own deployed CCTV devices, which we can turn into a smart device and may be combined with Qlue’s analytics dashboard.”

Maximising collaboration between two technologies

We also reached out to Qlue CEO Rama Raditya to discuss the collaboration between the two startups. Following the investment, Qlue is set to adopt Nodeflux technology to its smart city system.

One of the projects that the two startups are working on is a partnership with the police department. There are many things that they are working on, including the analysis of an object detected through an installed CCTV. Starting from object analysis, traffic congestion, face detector, and many more.

In the future, they are expecting to build a system to help the police department’s works across all sectors, such as finding a fugitive on the run or managing traffic based on congestion analysis.

Raditya also stated that the company is currently working with an undisclosed motorbike-based ride-hailing company. The goal of the project is to detect the distribution of motorbike taxi (ojek) in a particular area.

Nodeflux’s presence is said to have made Qlue’s services more comprehensive and measurable.

“We are adopting the big data analysis system and machine learning to our smart city dashboard. There are many more IoT-based initiatives that we are preparing with Nodeflux in the future, in order to strengthen the smart city platform that we own,” Raditya said in a separate interview.

Right now the Nodeflux team is working at the same office as Qlue. Both Fitranto and Raditya said that by merging their work spaces, the two startups are able to deepen their collaboration to develop smart city solutions together.

“It all began when I saw the company’s website; I was drawn and invested in them right away. We really like [what] Nodeflux [is doing], so many of our projects are being done by Nodeflux, especially those which require Nodeflux’s analytics solutions,” said Raditya.
