Indonesia's Jokowi expected to meet Lee Hsien Loong in September

As part of celebrations to mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Indonesian President Joko Widodo will meet with Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for a Leaders’ Retreat in the city-state.

According to media reports, Senior Minister of State for Defence and Foreign Affairs Dr Maliki Osman said on Monday (6 March) that the retreat is expected to take place in September. Maliki was speaking after meeting Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi on the sidelines of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Summit in Jakarta.

Maliki and Retno discussed encouraging the younger generation to continue enhancing bilateral ties for the next half-century and beyond.

Also attending the IORA Summit in Jakarta is Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean, who is present as a special envoy of PM Lee.
