A new fundraising initiative has been created by three friends with a penchant for doing good in Singapore. ‘Pledge It Forward’ was founded by The Social Co. co-founders Rebekah Lin and Cheryl Chong, who teamed up with the founder of Be An Idea, Nadim van der Ros, for this initiative.

Together, they aim to enable Singaporeans to play their part in building a stronger and more inclusive Singapore on a large scale.

‘Pledge It Forward’ allows different individuals to pledge any amount of their personal income tax rebate to a good cause. The donations will be equally distributed to 51 pre-selected charities including Singapore Anti-Narcotics Association and St Hilda’s Community Services Centre. This allows people to easily contribute to as many causes as they desire.

The selected charities serve the needs of vulnerable groups of people such as the elderly, people with disabilities and those recovering from addiction. The funds will be used to help them in preventive interventions, capacity building and capital expenditure.

A total goal of 10,000 pledges is set by the team by the end of the campaign in December.

They also hope to see how combining resources as a country will make a difference in shaping an inclusive and supportive future for everyone.

Donations can be made from 25 May 2017 to 31 December 2017 through their website http://pledgeitforward.sg/ via GIVE.asia or Giving.sg.
