Iskarnival 2015 returns to Johor next month

The annual Iskarnival is back this December with more activities and local artist performances

25 Nov - The annual Iskarnival is back this year and is ready to celebrate its third instalment this coming December with more fun and exciting games and performances!

Iskarnival is a festival of education, entertainment and everything in between, which will be taking place at Puteri Harbour, Nusajaya, Johor Bahru on 5 and 6 December 2015.

The festival will be filled with loads of fun activities, games for little kids and delicious food to savour, but one of the main attractions of the festival is the all-local concert featuring various talented musicians and bands from the country.

One of the bands which will be heating up the GEGO 2015 stage at Iskarnival 2015 is Malaysian ska punk band, Plague of Happiness.

Formed in 1999, the nine-member band is made up of a group of skateboarders from Johor; Nas (guitar/vocal), Ipin (bass/backing vocal), Atoi (trumpet), Azmal (saxophone), Nausad (Trombone), Arab (Guitar), Pozy (drums), Kateq (trombone) and Anept (trumpet/bass).

The band has released a number of compilation albums in several countries such as Norway, Bulgraria and Malaysia. Their famous songs include "Lepaskan" and "Kawan" which received airplay on several mainstream local radio stations.

Another Johorean band which will be joining Plague of Happiness is alternative rock band Laila's Lounge which consists of members; Hadi (vocal), Bai (guitar), Icham (guitar), Anaz (bass) and Toya (guitar) and is also formed during the late 90s.

The band gained prominence with their "Mawar Khayalan" from their album "KAMI Vol. II", which also became the theme song for the local film, "KAMI the Movie".
